We are currently looking for an detail-orientated and enthusiastic Product Merchandiser/Forecaster to join our in the marketing department.

Battles are the UK’s most established and leading provider of all of the major animal health, equestrian and pet care brands to distributors and retailers throughout the country, many of which are available via our next day delivery service. In 1832, we first started manufacturing agricultural products in Lincoln - 193 years later, we are still going from strength-to-strength and are continuing to carve our name as the first choice equestrian wholesaler within the areas in which we operate.

Working closely with the Buying Department to plan, select and promote the right mix of products, while also using data and market trends to forecast future demand. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that we offer the right products to the right customers at the right time.  

Job Description

  • Collaborate with buying, design, and marketing teams to execute product launches and promotional campaigns.

  • Liaise with the Buyers on the selection of core lines, and plan and monitor the sales and stock of these, maintaining optimum stock levels in stores and warehouse to drive sales

  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with suppliers regarding the core stock, and, as required, place repeat orders and re-phase the intake in line with projections

  • Maximise sales on core product through analysis of product performance, and taking appropriate commercial decisions relating to this, and will also complete the forecasting and optimisation of stock levels

  • Manage the placement of orders in line with core requirements and to critical path

  • Strive to improve margin through negotiation with suppliers and working closely with the buyers on alternative sources as required

  • Generate core reports for the business on a weekly basis reporting performance against key metrics and actions

  • Work cross functionally with Sales, Marketing, Web to drive sales of core product

Person Specification

  • A passion for Merchandising and driving sales – challenging the norm and not being afraid to try something new!

  • Have previous experience in a similar role

  • Strong administration skills along with analytical and numerical skills

  • Be flexible in approach whilst working under pressure

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to use interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels

  • Ability to work as part of a team, whilst being self-sufficient and self-motivated

  • Exceptional commercial awareness

  • Computer literate, with knowledge of MS Excel and have the ability to learn and use in-house software

  • An interest in the equestrian industry would be advantageous

  • Able to commute daily to our Lincoln office

Working hours are Monday - Friday 9:00am – 17:00pm

The role is based on site at our Lincoln Office

Pay from £25k per annum DEO
