The Hurlingham Polo Association is the governing body for polo in the UK, Ireland and many other countries throughout the world. The HPA is responsible for the regulations and rules under which the game is played. This includes the handicapping of anyone playing in the U.K. or Ireland, and the fixtures list. The HPA also promotes polo generally and provides support to the affiliated clubs in the UK and Ireland and overseas associations.

We are currently seeking for the role of Office Administrator to act as the first point of contact for telephone and email enquiries into the HPA office and ensure these queries are provided to the right person and responded to in a timely fashion. The role is also to ensure the smooth running of processes required to run polo in the UK, predominantly processing equine passports from first enquiries to completion. Managing required information for UK domestic tournaments, working with polo clubs, and supporting the team on the processing required for the endorsement of work visas.

  • They will have good attention to detail and be able to follow processes methodically with excellent attention to detail.

  • They will have good customer service skills and manner on the phone and in written emails.

  • They will be used to working as part of a team and collaboratively.

  • They should have a can-do attitude as we are a small team and you never know what jobs come along!

  • They should have some knowledge of equestrian sport and interest in polo.

Knowledge of polo is desirable.

The HPA office is a small friendly team based in a barn conversion near Kirtlington in Oxfordshire with free parking, not easily accessed by public transport. The office is very dog friendly and so you will need to be comfortable around loose dogs. You can bring your own well-behaved dog to the office.

This role is office based 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday. Some weekend working may sometimes be required (e.g. for events) but time off in lieu (TOIL) will be provided for each day or half day worked over a weekend. Part time or job share considered.
