We’re looking for a Horse Care & Welfare Volunteer Coordinator to join our Horse Care & Welfare Team. This role offers a great opportunity to help support our goal of preventing breaches in equine welfare by recruiting, training and nurturing our valued volunteer network.
You’ll play an important part in supporting both of our welfare volunteer roles - Horse Care & Welfare Advisers and Friends at the End volunteers - helping them feel confident, supported, and able to make a meaningful difference.
What you’ll be doing:
Working with our Volunteer Team to promote our roles and explore new ways to engage a wider and more diverse group of volunteers
Supporting the development of our volunteers, including helping to organise CPD opportunities
Assisting with proactive events such as Horse Health Days and Healthcare and Education Clinics, and encouraging volunteer involvement
Providing ongoing support to Horse Care & Welfare Advisers, helping them work through any challenges and answering queries where needed
Coordinating the recruitment and online training of our Friends at the End volunteers, and helping us expand the reach of this important service
Collaborating with the Volunteer Support Team to promote yard visits and strengthen local community relationships
What you won’t be doing:
Dealing with the same queries day in day out!
Working in isolation from the team
This is a great role for you if:
Have strong equine knowledge and enjoy sharing this with others
Have experience working with or supporting volunteers
Are enthusiastic and self-motivated, while also valuing teamwork
Feel confident communicating with a range of people
Enjoy developing your skills and learning new things
Take a flexible approach to your work
We’re excited that you’re thinking about applying to British Horse Society. To help you make the strongest impression, here are a few friendly tips:
AI tools can be handy, but they don’t always hit the mark when it comes to the specific stuff we’re looking for
We really want to hear your voice - your experiences, your skills and what makes you, well, you!
If you lean too much on AI-generated content, your application might end up sounding a bit generic - and that could hurt your chances.
So, keep it real, keep it personal and show us what you’re all about.
