  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments

  • Manage the year-end statutory accounts process and act as primary point of contact for external auditors

  • Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with UK GAAP and group accounting policies

  • Deliver clear, accurate board and management reporting packs, with commentary on variances and performance

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Prepare and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts

  • Oversee foreign currency exposure and payments where relevant

  • Monitor and manage any facilities, loans or funding arrangements

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit UK tax returns, including VAT, corporation tax and PAYE-related filings, either directly or in coordination with external advisers

  • Ensure timely compliance with all relevant tax deadlines and regulatory filing requirements

  • Act as the main point of contact for external tax advisers and HMRC correspondence

  • Keep abreast of relevant changes in tax legislation affecting the business

Financial Control & Process

  • Maintain and strengthen the internal control environment, including approval workflows and segregation of duties

  • Identify and implement process improvements across finance operations

  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles in conjunction with the wider leadership team

  • Oversee inventory-related financial controls, including stock reconciliations, valuation, margin analysis and reporting on stock movements

  • Manage and develop finance team members, where applicable

  • Support ad hoc commercial and financial analysis as required by the business

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance management role

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and hands-on experience of statutory accounts production

  • Practical experience managing treasury/cash flow functions

  • Solid working knowledge of UK tax compliance (VAT, corporation tax, PAYE)

  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems

  • Experience with inventory accounting, stock controls, reconciliations and inventory-related reporting

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • Clear communicator, comfortable presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders

Desirable

  • Experience working across multiple entities and/or jurisdictions

  • Prior experience in a consumer goods fast-paced commercial environment

  • Experience liaising directly with auditors and tax advisers
