Equine Care Supervisor
12 Month Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)
Salary £27,000.00 per annum
Hours 42.5 per week by Rota Basis (including weekends)
Occasional equine late checks 8:30pm – 9:00pm
Horses And Ponies Protection Association are seeking to recruit an Equine Care Supervisor for a twelve-month period to cover maternity leave.
The successful candidate will have a passion for equine welfare and rehabilitation. The charity is seeking a candidate that can demonstrate sufficient levels of equestrian knowledge and experience to supervise the delivery of exceptionally high standards of care to the resident equines under the direction of the Equine Manager. A demonstrative understanding of equine bio mechanics and physiology and a genuine, keen interest in equines is essential.
Previous experience in a supervisory, head groom or assistant management role is essential. The charity is looking for a confident, capable rider to supervise and assist with the backing and re schooling of equines from a variety of backgrounds and is an essential skill the post holder must demonstrate.

OVERALL, PURPOSE OF JOB
This is a hands on, yard based, position with an emphasis on Centre based equine care and the supervision of a team of Equine Care Officers (ECOs).
Under the guidance of the Equine Rehabilitation & Rehoming Manager (ERRM) the post holder will supervise and support the Equine Care Team, driving and ensuring a high standard of care is delivered to all equines onsite.
Sufficient knowledge and understanding of the specific needs of equines on a rehabilitation programme is essential. Sound experience of handling equines with good stable management skills. The ability to maintain standards with regards a communication, cleanliness, and tidiness throughout the yard alongside working closely and supportively with colleagues and the public.
The suitable candidate will have the specialist skills, knowledge, and experience to be able to rehabilitate nervous and problem horses from the ground and under saddle. A huge part of the role is supporting and developing the skill set of the ECOs, under the supervision of the ERRM.
