Communications Officer

Closing Date for Applicants:
Monday 1st July 2024

An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join our Marketing and Communications team, with the successful candidate playing an integral role in helping to deliver our communications strategy, creating engaging and informative content to support all British Dressage activity.

British Dressage is the National Governing Body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of dressage in the UK. There has never been a more exciting time to join the team at British Dressage and be part of the fastest growing equestrian sport as we count down to Paris 2024. Following 15 years of international success, the sport is enjoying a public profile like never before, with a record 19,000 members taking part in more than 3,000 days of affiliated dressage competition every year.

Based at our Head Office in Meriden, West Midlands, with the option of hybrid working available, the Communications Officer will work closely with the Communications & Content Lead to ensure timely delivery of a busy written communications schedule, primarily for the BD website and social media channels, to support competition and training activity.

The main priority for this role is to provide support to the Communications & Content Lead in producing effective communications across the organisation’s activities. This includes copywriting, proof reading, providing social media support and creating content for all of BD’s digital platforms.

  • The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills, with strong attention to detail and high standards of grammar.

  • They should be IT literate with experience of creating effective and creative content for digital channels, as well as possessing an awareness of how to communicate effectively with different stakeholder groups.

  • Demonstrable prior hands-on experience in a similar marketing or communications role is therefore a pre-requisite.

We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic and highly motivated self-starter, with excellent communication and organisational skills, who is equally adept at working independently and as a team player. A genuine interest in equestrianism and understanding of dressage would be preferable for this role.

Due to the nature of our sport a flexible approach to working, including some weekends and evenings, will be required. You must also have a full, clean driving license and be prepared to travel as necessary.  For more information, including a full job description, please visit www.britishdressage.co.uk
