Ballodair Equestrian UK Limited

Bromson Stud, Warwickshire

Full-time

About Us

Ballodair Equestrian is a specialist dressage yard based at Bromson Stud in Warwickshire. We offer livery, dressage training, and the buying and selling of competition horses. The horses in our care compete at affiliated British Dressage national level and Internationally at FEI level.

A significant and growing part of our business sits between the UK and Australia. We manage horses imported from Australia, work with Australian owners and buyers, and source and sell competition horses across both markets. Our 15-box yard runs close to capacity with a waitlist for livery and training places, and we now need someone dedicated to driving the commercial side of the business — with the Australia–UK trade at the centre of it.

The Role

You'll own business development across both markets — bringing in new livery and training clients in the UK, and building the pipeline of horse sales, purchases and client relationships between Australia and the UK. You'll work directly with the Director and the yard team.

This is a hands-on role in a small business operating at the top end of the sport. You'll be talking to owners, riders, trainers, agents and buyers in both countries most days, and you'll need to be equally credible on a yard in Warwickshire or on the phone to a breeder in New South Wales.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and manage relationships with owners, riders, trainers, breeders and agents in both Australia and the UK

  • Source competition horses in Australia for UK clients, and place UK-based horses with Australian buyers — handling enquiries, viewings, trials, vettings and follow-up through to completion

  • Advise clients on the practicalities of moving horses between the two markets, working with transport agents and managing the client relationship through import/export

  • Generate and convert enquiries for livery, training and clinic places at the yard, and manage the waitlist

  • Represent Ballodair at competitions, sales and industry events in the UK and, where required, in Australia

  • Manage the yard's marketing presence — sales listings, social media, website enquiries and photography/video coordination for both markets

  • Keep accurate records of enquiries, viewings and client contact, and report on pipeline and conversions to the Director

What We're Looking For

  • Proven sales or business development experience — you know how to find, qualify and close business

  • Established relationships in both the Australian and UK equestrian industries — with owners, breeders, trainers, agents or buyers. This is essential to the role and we will ask about it

  • Deep knowledge of the Australian equine industry: how horses are bred, managed, fed and sold in Australia, and how that differs from UK practice

  • Strong working knowledge of the UK dressage and sport horse market, ideally including affiliated British Dressage and FEI-level competition

  • Understanding of the practicalities of buying, selling and moving horses between Australia and the UK — pricing, agents, transport and the commercial realities on both sides

  • Excellent written and spoken communication — plain, professional and direct

  • Self-sufficient and organised. You'll manage your own pipeline, diary and time zones

  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel

What We Offer

  • Salary plus commission on livery, training and horse sales revenue

  • A growing business trading at the top end of the sport across two markets, with real scope to shape the commercial function

  • Direct access to the Director — decisions get made quickly

  • Based at a professional yard at Bromson Stud, Warwickshire, with flexibility for travel

How to Apply

Send your CV and a short covering note. Tell us about business you've personally brought in, and about your networks in both the Australian and UK equestrian worlds — we'd rather hear that than a formal cover letter.
