Vet Way is an established wholesaler of large animal veterinary products, supplying to vet practices, governments and wholesalers around the world. We are a market leader in both bovine and ovine blood collection kits and our product range includes a wide variety of veterinary consumables, specimen shippers, chemical liquids and powders.

Established in 1999, the Vet Way HQ is located in its purpose-built factory and warehousing site in York, United Kingdom.

My client is currently seeking a Business Development Executive to join their team, this is a hybrid role partly based at the Head Office in York, and partly homebased.

We are looking for a confident communicator and team player who has a proven record in delivering new business sales.  Someone who target driven and who has a passion or background in animal health. You will be required to connect with veterinary buying groups and practices directly over the telephone with a view to closing prospect business and delivering a first-class Customer Service.

  • The ideal candidate will enjoy speaking with new customers over the telephone, taking a driven, keen approach to New Business Sales.

  • The role will be target driven with a great opportunity for career development with the benefit of un-capped quarterly commissions/sales bonuses.

  • You will be responsible for recording and managing data held on our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

  • A couple of times a year, the sales team will be required to attend veterinary trade events, this will require the candidate to be on overnight trips away.

Responsibilities include:

  • Meeting quarterly sales budget and KPI’s

  • Qualify and follow up on all sales leads and generate new prospect leads using external sources.

  • Contacting existing and new customers to build strong working relationships whilst developing their understanding of our products and services (B2B).

  • Managing accounts and growing them accordingly with the support of the wider Sales team

  • Support additional projects to improve the overall sales performance of the business.

  • Proactively build and develop contact lists then manage and maintain client relationships and based upon targeted geographic and product areas.

  • Maximise all revenue opportunities by ensuring customers are aware of the full range of Vet Way products and services.

  • Ensure customer quotations are prepared in accordance with company guidelines.

  • Record interactions with customers on our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system

  • To develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge and thorough understanding of the Veterinary Market, all Vet Way products and supported brands, services, rates, relevant administration and operational processes.

  • Work closely with the Managing Director in building solid relationships and support the development of new business.

Essential Skills, Knowledfge and Experience

  • Strong outbound sales experience in a targeted environment

  • Professional, articulate and a team player

  • Proven consultative selling experience

  • Passion, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn

  • A desire to succeed in sales focused organisation

  • Confidence with interacting with customers by telephone

  • Must be able to accurately follow all company processes and procedures

  • Ambition to exceed the expectations of each customer account

  • Must be a positive, focused individual who is able to work in collaboration with others people internally and externally in a polite and confident manner

  • To be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team as and when required

  • To be self-motivated and demonstrate self-management skills

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written

  • Computer literate –Microsoft Office packages

Candidates need to live locally to York in order to satisfy working 2 days per week in the office.
