Blackfort Equestrian is a growing equestrian fashion brand, designing functional, stylish clothing for riders who want performance without compromise. As a small, fast-moving business, we’re hands-on, creative, and collaborative—and we’re now looking for an Assistant Buyer – Equestrian Fashion to join our team.
This is an exciting, varied role that offers real development for the right person.
The Role
As Assistant Buyer, you’ll support the buying and design process from concept through to production. You’ll work closely with the design and production team, helping to keep projects organised, on track, and communicated clearly with suppliers.
This role is ideal for someone with strong admin and organisation skills who also has an interest in fashion, design, and product development—and who feels confident speaking about products both internally and on social media.
Salary depending on experience £25k - £29k per annum
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the selection and procurement of equestrian clothing products, ensuring alignment with brand standards.
Support the negotiation process with suppliers to secure favourable terms
General buying and design administration
Organising and maintaining the design planner
Sending and managing purchase orders (POs)
Checking tech packs for accuracy and completeness
Assisting with creating and updating tech packs
Tracking orders and monitoring progress through each design stage
Liaising with suppliers where required
Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to inform buying decisions.
Coordinate logistics and manage supply chain activities to ensure timely delivery
Updating the Director on stages of designs and samples
Confidently talking about product designs, development stages, and upcoming launches on social media (not a marketing role, but collaborative support)
Development Opportunities

Additional / Ad Hoc Duties
As a small business, we’re looking for a team player who’s happy to support across the business when needed, including:
Assisting in the warehouse on busy days
Assisting with customer service correspondence
Helping to set up and break down exhibition stands
Supporting at trade shows and events (5–6 per year), which may include staying away from home
About You
Highly organised with great attention to detail
Comfortable working with spreadsheets, documents, and planners
Confident communicator, both written and verbal
Interest in fashion, design, and product development
Happy working in a hands-on, small-team environment
Flexible, proactive, and willing to get involved where needed
Previous experience in buying, fashion, or product development is desirable but not essential
