Abingdon & Witney College is an award-winning general college of Further Education with specialist land-based status.
Our expansive, award-winning equine facilities are based at our Common Leys Farm Campus and provide top-class training across all equestrian disciplines. Within our stables, livery yard and stud farm, we have two thoroughbred broodmares and one sports horse broodmare. Here, students gain valuable experience in sales prep for yearlings and foals, particularly for thoroughbred flat racing.
We have 13 internal boxes, 10 external boxes and two loose barns,
A state-of-the-art Claydon horse walker and exerciser.
There are an additional two foaling boxes, a spacious feed room, an isolation barn, and veterinary stocks for examining and rehabilitation purposes.
Out in our training arenas, you can find a large 40x60m outdoor school with mirrors and full show jump course.
There is a newly-built 20x40m indoor school complete with lights,
Extensive post and rail paddocks adjoining the arenas to allow for quick access between the two sites.
BSc (Hons) Equine Science (taught in partnership with Oxford Brookes University)
This three-year science degree gives you a thorough scientific understanding of the subject area, knowledge of the equine industry, and the scope to develop business and management skills.
The Level 3 course in Horse Management provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue careers in competition yards, riding schools, the horse racing Industry and the breeding industry or within a wide range of ancillary industries.
