Bedmax Limited is a family run company which is the first in the UK to produce made-to-measure, high-quality shavings especially for horse bedding. Celebrating our 23rd year Bedmax was founded and is still based near Belford in Northumberland, with additional dedicated manufacturing plants in Nottinghamshire and Hampshire, which also houses a second Strawmax plant.
As well as our shavings and pellet products we produce Hotmax, a fuel log, produced from compacted bark and wood dust generated during the production of the Bedmax product.
In 2012 Bedmax Limited was awarded HRH The Queen’s Royal Warrant and is supplier to many other prestigious customers both in the UK and internationally.

The Company is now looking to recruit an experienced Sales & Development Manager to cover the East Midlands, East of England and South East England area. Within this role you will be at the forefront of the Company and will have the dedication and market knowledge to help create, and then apply, an effective sales strategy for your region.

The goal is to drive sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with new and existing customers and market influencers. The post-holder will have responsibility for providing specialist advice and ensuring customer satisfaction and service delivery.  Essentially, you will be a friendly, organised team player with a flexible approach and good sense of humour.
This role represents an opportunity to play a crucial role in the achievement of ongoing sales targets and objectives, as well as contributing to the overall business development ambitions of the Company.

We are seeking a driven field sales professional with a strong network within the Equestrian Community who lives centrally within the territory.

The Role
To be successful within this role the post-holder will be able to effectively:

  • Achieve Sales targets and objectives.

  • Develop prospect lists.

  • Ensure customer details are constantly up to date for marketing and sales purposes.

  • Provide ongoing customer care and support.

  • Collaborate with the marketing support team to ensure that marketing is effective and helps grow the business and maintain our brand position in the market.

  • Develop and attain a strong understanding of Bedmax products, the competition in the industry and stay up to date with new trends.

  • Provide a high level of customer care across all markets (wholesalers, retailers, etc.).

  • Effectively manage strategic and key account relationships.

  • Initiate and deliver Sales and Marketing action plans and strategies.

  • Source and develop new customer leads through strategic planning.

  • Build strong relationships with new and existing customers.

  • Respond to sales enquiries and resolve any complaints fairly.

  • Ensure that an outstanding level of customer service is consistently delivered.

  • Maintain sales activity records through our Sales-I system.

  • Participate in trade and consumer events.


The Candidate
To be successful in this role the post-holder will be able to demonstrate:

  • A proven track record in a field sales role within the equestrian industry or have a strong equine background.

  • A flexible approach to working hours.

  • A strategic and creative mind.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Competency and skill in delivering presentations.

  • A track record of relationship building with proven results.

  • Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic team player.

  • Pragmatic problem solving.

  • IT literacy & proficient user of Microsoft Office & Database Systems.

  • Live in the territory to be covered.

  • Valid UK driving licence.

Full Time / Permanent
