Up to £15,500 (based on 21 hours per week) + 10% pension contribution

17 days holiday per year (based on 21 hours per week) plus bank holidays

The Hurlingham Polo Association is the governing body for polo in the UK, Ireland and many other countries throughout the world. The HPA is responsible for the regulations and rules under which the game is played. This includes the handicapping of anyone playing in the U.K. or Ireland, and the fixtures list. The HPA also promotes polo generally and provides support to the affiliated clubs in the UK and Ireland and overseas associations.

We are currently seeking candidates for the role of Polo Assistant to support two new part-time roles in the HPA, namely Head of International and High Goal Polo as well as the Head of Development and Low Goal Polo. 

The role will involve providing administrative support

  • Including organising committee meetings

  • Creating minutes and agendas

  • Managing data,

  • Fielding queries from clubs, Managers, and players in the absence of the Heads of Polo

  • Some attendance at polo will be required

It is essential the successful candidate has a good working knowledge of polo in the UK, and experience in or around a polo office would be a significant advantage.

  • The candidate will have good knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc) with a willingness to learn new software. 

  • They will be able to follow processes methodically with excellent attention to detail, and they will have good customer service skills and a confident and friendly telephone and email manner.

  • They will enjoy working as part of a team and collaboratively and should have a can-do attitude as we are a small team, and you never know what jobs may come along! Further information is available in the Polo Assistant job description.

The HPA office is a small friendly team currently based in a barn conversion near Faringdon, Oxfordshire.  We are planning a move into a barn conversion in Kirtlington, Oxfordshire in November 2024.  Both locations have free parking but are not easily accessed by public transport. The office is very dog friendly and so you will need to be comfortable around loose dogs; you can bring your own well-behaved dog(s) to the office.

This role is office-based and is flexible on working pattern, from 21 hours over 3 days to spread out over 5. Our office hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Some weekend working may sometimes be required (e.g. for events) but time off in lieu (TOIL) will be provided for each day or half day worked over a weekend.
