Our horses and ponies are the lifeblood of our RDA family, and their welfare is of paramount importance to us in all that we do. At Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), our horses benefit the lives of over 25,000 disabled children and adults. With fun activities like riding and carriage driving, we provide therapy, fitness, skills development and opportunities for achievement.

We have an exciting opportunity available as Equine Manager.

Our horses and ponies need to be trained and nurtured, not just at the outset of their journey with RDA, but always and continuously.  We aspire to be the very best in herd management, horse welfare and equine training.  The postholder will champion this work and transform our ability to support our RDA groups and their current and future participants.

The Equine Manager at RDA plays a crucial role in setting and delivering the strategy for the sourcing, welfare, care, training and management of the organisation's equines. They will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of equine care and ensuring the safety and well-being of the horses used in RDA activities is best in class. The Equine Manager will collaborate closely with the Coaches and Volunteers to provide a nurturing and enriching environment for the therapy horses and ensure their suitability for therapeutic riding and equine-assisted activities.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Equine care and welfare

  • Social license to operate

  • Equine policy development

  • Equine pipeline development

  • Safety and compliance

  • Stakeholder training and development

  • Management (line management and budget management)

This post is full time, permanent and based at our RDA National Office - Lowlands Equestrian Centre, Warwick

Salary range: approx £37k per annum dependant upon experience
